The native Developed 4G network of BSNL will be upgraded to 5G in the next six-year months, said telecomminister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Sunday.
While speaking on the Kautilya Economic Enclave 2025, the minister said that India entered the club of 4G technology, dominated by only five companies in the world – Huawei, ZTE, Samsung, Nokia and Ericsson – based from four countries – Sweden, Finland, South Korea and China.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi 92,564 revealed towers that connect Kashmir with Kanyakumari and Bharuch with Arunachal Pradesh in India with our own domestic 4G standard.
“Today, India entered the club with its own 4G standard. This is the innovation capacity and innovation company of India. But we will not rest. Within the next six to eight months we will switch these 4G to 5G networks and end-to-end 5G network capacity about the length and width of the length and width.”
The minister said that turbulence in the geopolitical space has become a rhythm and over the past five years in every corner have been high with conflicts and wars in every corner, which led to protectionism that creates trade barriers.
Scindia said that “climate shocks” expose economies to economic vulnerability and the threat of inflation influences every household, including those in developed countries.
“That is why it is evoking the issue of us as human beings today, to ask ourselves, where is prosulence? That turbulence is not a disruptor. Turbulence is also a catalyst. In this context, India has succeeded as a catalyst and grows in the first quarter of FY25-26,” said the minister.
He said that India has become a support point for Global South.
“I tell you that in this era of uncertainty, that the norm has become, India is not just another destination, India is the direction. India is not only the voice. India is the mission. And for those looking for prosperity in turbulent times, I encourage them to look, move and invest in India,” said Scindia.
Speaking with reporters on the sidelines of the event, the minister said that innovation is flourishing in India, where all global Majors in India are present in very large numbers.
“We also have innovation of domestic startups and entrepreneurs. We have the second largest production of mobile phones in India. Today India is really pioneering with this communication AI Semicon value chain in the world. You are going to see a huge sounding ultrasound of those in the India Mobile Congress (IMC),” Scindia said.
He said that delegations from 150 countries, close to around 7,000 delegates, 1500 exhibitors, more than 1,000 use cases of 4G and 5G, watch huge amounts of innovation at concepts AI, Quantum Computing and New Hallmarks of Technology will be a fundamental part of the IMC 2025.
