United leveled again in the 77th minute through a Fernandes free-kick, and shortly afterwards Matheus Cunha fired the hosts into a 4–3 lead.

However, Bournemouth refused to fold and were rewarded when Eli Kroupi Junior struck in the 84th minute to restore parity.

As is often the case when United don’t win, there was plenty to analyze, including Amorim’s decision to abandon his usual 3-4-2-1 system and deploy a back four instead.

The 23-year-old could have reacted better to Evanlison’s attack and Tavernier’s free kick.

After the match, footage emerged of Fernandes indicating the direction of the oncoming free-kick, but Lammens left a significant amount of space to his right and appeared to overlook his captain’s guidance, allowing the Bournemouth player to score.

Despite these costly mistakes, the goalkeeper made amends later in the match with two crucial saves to prevent United from suffering defeat.

After the draw, Amorim reflected on the performance and labeled it ‘good’ before focusing mainly on Lammens. The Portuguese coach said he thought his goalkeeper “did very well”.

“People, especially at Old Trafford, want to win, but they want to be inspired to see a team playing good football,” Amorim said.

“We did that well at certain times. It was a good performance, but we have to be more clinical because we created so many chances.” [Senne] Lammens did very well.

“There were chances for both sides. We created more. We have to find ways to close the games because this has happened many times. That’s part of the process. We try to do things as best as we can, but at times it’s not enough.”

United return to Premier League action on Sunday, December 21, when they travel to Aston Villa.
