The Boston Bruins have had quite a week. After losing six games in a row, they found themselves back in the win column. It was a great way to end a tough week for the Bruins. The big win caps off the good news for the week, but other news and rumors take center stage. Not nearly as positive, but certainly material to delve into.
Pavel Zacha remains a heavy target for the Canucks
The Vancouver Canucks have made trades to bolster their center depth. They went out and acquired Lukas Reichel from the Chicago Blackhawks. Reichel is only 23 years old, but has yet to find his feet in the NHL. Though he did score eight goals and set a career high in points with 22 in the 2024-2025 season. It’s a low-risk, high-reward move for the Canucks. The Canucks aren’t stopping there, though.
According to Elliotte Friedmanthe Canucks are still focusing heavily on Pavel Zacha. Zacha is a name that has been churning the NHL rumor mill since the summer and is still on the open market. Bruins general manager Don Sweeney has said the price is set very high and could be something that deters the Canucks.
Zacha is a great player and can play anywhere in the lineup. His versatility, from being able to play in the middle and on the wing, is huge for a coach who decides his formation. Plus, he’s been great since he turned Bruin. Zacha is coming off three straight 40+ point seasons and is off to a good start to the 2025-2026 season. Zacha has two goals and nine points in the team’s first ten games. Overall, only three players have scored more expected goals than him. He has been a factor for the Bruins and has a lot of value. His contract is a complete bargain, as he makes it $4.75 million per season. That’s great for a player in the top six.
Whether this trade will bear fruit remains to be seen, but it is one to keep an eye on for both parties involved.
Hampus Lindholm remains out
It has been a great year for Hampus Lindholm. Since being pulled from the game against the Chicago Blackhawks, he has been out of the lineup. He made his return during the West Coast road trip, but hasn’t played since the first meeting against the Colorado Avalanche (October 18).

Lindholm is sorely missed in this Bruins lineup. He is their most versatile defender and provides stability to the lineup. However, since it’s so early in the season, there’s no reason to rush him if he’s not ready to return. After the win over the Avalanche on Saturday afternoon, head coach Marco Sturm addressed Lindholm’s absence.
“We thought another day or two … unfortunately we all have to be patient.”
It remains to be seen when his return will be, but now that the team is not training on Sunday, it does give him more time to rest. Patience is a virtue, and that will be how this injury is handled. As it stands now, the Bruins will rely on Michael Callahan to help fill out the bottom pair. Jordan Harris is also on the injured reserve list, so the backline has taken a hit. Losing Lindholm hurts the Bruins on the back end, but it’s more important for him to be healthy than forcing himself to play.
