“She’s going in the right direction. She’s a filly we’ve always thought about a lot. She had a challenging, wide journey today and still drove home. I was very impressed,” said trainer Chad Brown. “She has had three consecutive good races in her form cycle and now has a Grade 2 to her name. She will be a central part of our 2026 plans.”
Making just her fourth career start, Fully Subscribed followed a close second-place finish in an optional 1 1/8-mile allowance race on September 28. Having secured a victory over the same distance on her stakes debut, she confirmed Brown’s belief in her distance abilities.
“I tried to get her to a mile and an eighth. She came second to a good filly in her first attempt and earned a good number. I thought she could at least match or better that number here,” Brown said.
The five-time Eclipse Award-winning trainer said the filly owned by Klaravich Stables and bred by Payson Stud in Kentucky will head to Florida for a while after Saturday’s win.
Queen Azteca set the early pace in the Mother Goose, running an opening quarter-mile of :24.00 as Godolphin’s Lemon Zest chased down second, with jockey Dylan Davis booking Fully Subscribed seventh in the field of nine. The action only picked up in the final turn when Fully Subscribed and Drexel Hill, last early in her first race since May 2, combined on the outside to battle for the lead.
It was not a competition during the process. Fully Subscribed raced to a 2 1/2 length lead at the eighth pole and increased the margin from there to complete the 1 1/8 miles in 1:49.73 as the 7-2 favorite ($9.00 to win).
“I felt good going into the last corner,” Brown said. ‘I thought we had the better position. After taking the lead, she broke again and drove home.”
Drexel Hill, trained by Whit Beckman, ran well for second in her first race since finishing second at odds of 32-1 in the Grade 1 Longines Kentucky Oaks.
“It was a great comeback effort,” Beckman said. “I think the fitness and layoff got her to quarter pole when she drifted wide. She rode home well and we’re happy to finish second.”
Lemon Zest, trained by Brad Cox, remained in third place by a neck behind Drexel Hill.
