US Open Broadcasters was asked not to show any negative reactions from the public to Donald Trump during Sunday’s men’s final.
The president is expected to attend the match between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz in New York, in which the security at Flushing Meadows will be increased in preparation.
Trump was a regular visitor to the US Open, but has not been to the tournament since 2015, a year before he was first elected president when he was booed by spectators.
An e-mail sent by organizers to broadcasters reveals that the 79-year-old is shown on the screen while singing the national anthem prior to the game.
The message adds: “We ask all broadcasters to remember from showing disruptions or reactions in response to the presence of the president in any capacity.”
Trump’s visit threatens to remove some of the spotlights from Alcaraz and Sinner, who meet in a third consecutive Grand Slam final.
However, Alcaraz believes that it is good for tennis to have the president and to say: “It is a privilege for the tournaments that the president of every country have to support the tournament, to support tennis and support the competition.

“For me, who plays for him, I will try not to be focused on that, and I will not try not to think about it. I don’t want me to be nervous, but I think it is to attend the tennis match, it’s great for tennis to make the president come to the final.”
