British often miss football goals at home due to toilet breaks, according to a recent study. Whether it is about answering the door, the knots of the Wiro or making a cuppa, these interruptions rob fans of important moments in the game and can be incredibly frustrating. To pick things up a bit, Deliveroo offers some comfort with the introduction of his new ‘Score Back Scheme’.

The initiative comes in response to a national survey that sheds light on how often viewers miss important goals while they look at home and why – and the reasons are all too familiar.

More than half confessed that they were in De Loo at the time, while a third rumbled in the fridge. Others were slaughtered to make a cup of tea, turned their backs to television or texts and friends about the game.

Moreover, one fifth admitted that they missed a goal because they were at the door to accept a delivery.

The study also discovered that almost half of the football fans had to lie to friends or family then and said they had seen a goal when they didn’t have it, with more than a third choice to view repetitions of the missed goal in secret to avoid clumsiness with friends and family.

The scheme is launched just in time for UEFA Women’s Euro 2025. The campaign gives unfortunate fans a reason to cheer, even if they look away at the wrong time.

Kick -off from 13 to 27 July offers Deliveroo £ 30credit to fans who miss a goal because their order arrives at the exact moment that the ball touches the net (or within a minute on both sides of the goal)*.

Proponents who make an eligible purchase of £ 30 or more this summer during a live women’s football match, and their food a minute before or after a goal is scored, the UK Instagram account of Deliveroo can send a message within 48 hours to submit a claim.

Once confirmed, they will supply themselves £ 30 who will be good for three months before 11 August 2025.

Arabella Jenkins, a Deliveroo spokesperson, said: “We know that the wonderful game can yield some truly unpredictable moments, and sometimes those moments can coincide with the arrival of your delivery person.

“So if you are caught by a goal, while you accept your delivery of Essentials from Match Day, we change the rules of the game to turn unfortunate moments into a tasty victory with our completely new ‘score return schedule’.”

*The Deliveroo order must arrive, 1 minute before or after a goal has been delivered by a professional women’s football team that is shown at National UK Telly for the claim that is valid. Orders with items that are limited to those of 18 years and older are not eligible.

Availability and geographical location apply. This offer is only exclusive for customers in the UK.
