Paul Merson is a division in Voetbalpunditry.
He is often criticized for his views, especially those at Newcastle United, but his last anger on Alexander Isak and the “incredible situation” that he has placed himself, provides an interesting lecture.
Although some media suggest that we have to let him go and Liverpool fans claim that we ‘held hostage’, Merson has questioned the approach of Isak that paints the Swede and his representatives in an ever -poor light.
“It is an incredible situation in which Isak has introduced itself,” said Mersonon Sky Sports.“He takes a big gamble by reporting that he will never play for Newcastle again.
“Newcastle is a big city, but it is a fish bowl in terms of football, where it is a city of one club. I would not want to be in his shoes if he doesn’t get his move. He is many of Newcastle fans upset with his actions.
“If he does not get away before the transfer window closes, he has to score a number of serious goals to get the fans of Newcastle somewhere near behind.
“When he leaves, he will not leave Newcastle as a hero. If he had been kept silent, he could still have been able to go for big money, so Newcastle had given a serious profit after he had given him everything to the club. He was a large part of that trophy success last season, and he would be right for it.
“Everyone could have shaking their hands and being happy with the deal. But that is now completely gone. The situation is completely ridiculous. It just shows you that the players have all the power.”
Merson nails it. He burns bridges without taking into account his inheritance in Newcastle and how this blows back into his face should not come out a movement to Liverpool.
He respects the club that has paid a record allowance for his signature, a manager who has improved him enormously, his teammates and the supporters who have had worshiped him for several years now.
