West India Legend Brian Lara has praised India’s young Slagster Abhishek Sharma, revealing that despite his success of T20, the left-handed dreams to reach the Indian test team one day.
Abhishek, who recently came to the number 1 place in ICC T20i rankings, was one of the largest stars in India during the Asia Cup 2025. He hit 314 points in seven games, including three 1950s, and ended with a stunning success rate of 200. His fears of the world made him one of the world.
Speaking during the Ceat Cricket Rating Awards in Mumbai, Lara said he had ABHISHEK together since their time in Sunrisers Hyderabad during the Covid years and always believed that the young person had something special.
“I know Abhishek from my SRH days. He is a great player. His bat speed, timing and the way he strikes through the ball is excellent. I think Yuvraj Singh had a huge influence on him,” Lara said.
The former captain in the West Indies also revealed that Abhishek often reaches him for advice, and what makes him the most impression, is the hunger of the 24-year-old to go beyond cricket with Witte Ball.
“What is amazing is that even after all this success in T20 and 50-over cricket, he still wants to find a way in the test team. That shows how big he thinks. It is really special to see someone who is ambitious,” Lara added.
