The Milwaukee Brewers keep winning. They expanded their winning series to 13 consecutive games on Friday evening with a 10-8 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.
They certainly did not make it easy for themselves.
The Bewers had to overcome a shortage of 8-1 second inning, but did this thanks to a dominant performance of outfielder Christian Yelich.
Yelich helped feed the Rally of the Brewers by going 4-out-5 with two home runs and five RBI in a version in which he only came a triple shy of the cycle. Yelich has hit his career three times in his career, with the three previous times also against the Reds. Even without the triplicate it was still a dominant show.
First Honkman Andrew Vaughn also played a major role and helped to start the rally with a three-run home run in the third inning.
The Rally of the Brewers not only helped them to maintain their winning streak, but it also helped to remove Rookie World Jacob Misiorowski from the Haak after struggling on the hill. The All-Star allowed five earned points in just 1.1 innings to place the Brewers in their early hole. But with the way they are going now, nothing seems to matter or stand in the way.
With Friday’s victory, their lead in the National League Central increases to nine games about the Chicago Cubs (which lost earlier on Friday) and gives the best record in the National League with seven games.
They are clearly the best team in baseball at the moment, and they only get better.
