Brentford Chief opens on Yoane Wissa Transfer Saga

Brentford has passed a “more difficult” transfer window this summer than normal after Yoane Wissa forced the club to sell him to Newcastle United.

The bees lost a number of key figures for the season when Thomas Frank left to become Spurs head coach, Bryan Mbeumo joined Manchester United and Ben was released at the end of his contract.

The West -London outfit did not intend to let Wissa also go during such a period of unrest, but the striker refused to play for the club until he got his move to St James’ park.

In the end, Brentford admitted and sold the Dr. Congo International for a first £ 50 million, plus £ 5 million in add-ons on deadline day. The player was so enthusiastic to become a member of the magpies that he drove the night to do the deal, which only happened in the transfer window with 30 seconds.

Brentford director of Voetbal Phil Giles regretted the affair who played in public and called it “not ideal” while discussing the difficulties this summer, but also insisted that it was “in many ways” no more difficult than previous windows.

“It was an interesting in recent days and in fact an interesting in recent weeks,” Giles said the official website of Brentford. “The big story is selling Yoane Wissa. He was a fantastic player for us, started playing wide and evolved to take the no. 9 position and had a brilliant season last year.

“He was really a good, infectious character who was positive about the players and the fans. I personally liked him personally, so there is nothing but positive things to say about his performances on the field for us.

“Transfers are always complicated. There is always a little bit of emotion, friction and dialogue. That remains normally in the house, but this is clearly distributed. It is not the only one this summer that is a bit more released in the public domain that, from my point of view, is not ideal.

“You have to remove the emotions and ultimately make the decisions for the club. Every decision I make or we make collective during a transfer window, will strip out all the emotion and focus purely on what the right decision is at the time for the club in general.

“To a certain extent it was no more difficult than many other transfer windows personally.

“This time it might just slide a little more than normal, so people gained a little more insight into how things tend to play out.”
