Brendon McCullum enthusiastic about Ashes Challenge and defends the preparations of England

Brendon McCullum embraces Ashes fever while the head coach of England insisted that he is satisfied with just one warming before he stood opposite Australia.

England is planning to recover the urn for the first time in a decade, while they have not won in Australia since 2010/11, their last three visits through scores of 5-0 once and 4-0 twice.

While England has White-Ball-Series against Ireland and New Zealand before their tour, McCullum is already in planning mode for the next one from his side, from November 21 in Perth.

“It will be a huge series and we go down there with the type of team we want,” he said. “We give ourselves every chance against the very, very good Australian side in their own circumstances.

Noise

“We try to do our best to insulate the environment on good days and badly from much of that sound and we know that the sound will be extreme, but it does not mean that we are not enthusiastic about that.

“Now the Ashes is our next assignment in the test team, we can’t wait. It will be great. It is now getting up, we are ready to go.”

McCullum will fly back to his native Zeeland on Monday evening and hands over the control of a weakened T20 side to assistant Marcus Trescothick for three games against Ireland in Malahide this week.

However, England will complete their Ashes team in the following week, with the identity of a backup spinner to Shoaib Bashir expects to be the only mystery to McCullum and Captain Ben Stokes.

No fewer than seven sailors can be on the run, although the English lions of Andrew Flintoff will be in Australia at the same time to supplement the main group and offer injury.

Preparation

The only official exhibition match in England will be a three -day affair against the Lions, who invited the research, but McCullum pointed to his record in his time as a coach as a reason for optimism.

“If someone gave me a perfect preparation and said:” If you follow this, you will win 5-0, well, we will do it, “said McCullum.

“But that doesn’t exist, so you have to be convinced how you think you can prepare boys and the team in themselves.

“And I think we have won every first test of every all the first test of each, after the exact preparation we are going to follow in the last three years since I have been here.

“It doesn’t guarantee us, but it is the familiarity with the preparation that gives us a chance.”

England against Australia Test Match

  • First test, Perth Stadium-21-25 November
  • Second test, the Gabba-4-8 December
  • Third test, Adelaide Oval-17-21 December
  • Fourth Test, Melbourne Cricket Ground-22-30 December
  • Fifth Test, Sydney Cricket Ground-4-8 January

The previous T20 and ODI series in New Zealand, with less than fourteen days between that Tour-Einde and their lions in Perth, could therefore be part of the Ashes preparation.

“There is a chance that we can take one or two others with us to ensure that we get their last pieces of their preparation and the Cherry Ripe before Australia,” McCullum added.

“But we will also use the Lions set-up to make sure that we get some loading in some guys when we all meet in Perth. We will finish our preparation with our warm-up game and look forward to it.”
