Brazil top women’s round robin while Kazakhstan and Brazil lead men’s pools in Fort Wayne < World ParaVolley

Brazil completed an undefeated campaign in the women’s round robin at the 2025 World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Cup at the Turnstone Center on Thursday, beating host nation United States 3-1 (25-14, 25-23, 21-25, 25-15) to finish first at the end of the preliminary phase. The South Americans, who maintained their form throughout the week, finished the round with five wins from five matches and went straight to the semi-finals as the top-ranked team.

The clash between Brazil and the United States was a fitting highlight of the final day, with the home side taking the third set before Brazil reasserted control in the fourth to seal victory. Canada also finished on a high, beating the Netherlands 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-20) after composed team play and solid defense, while Italy recorded a 3-0 loss to Germany to end their round. Brazil will face Italy in the semi-finals, while the other last four will feature a North American showdown between the United States and Canada.

In the men’s competition, Kazakhstan secured the top position in Pool A by beating Thailand 3-0 (25-15, 25-8, 25-14) to end the preliminary phase undefeated. Brazil finished first in Pool B, ending their campaign with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-7, 25-6) win over India to also advance to the semi-finals without a loss.

Egypt finished second in Pool B after a straight-sets (25-22, 25-13, 25-15) win against the Netherlands, while Croatia ended their pool matches with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-19) win over the same opponent. Canada, meanwhile, closed Pool A in strong fashion by beating Italy 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-11), securing a positive conclusion to the preliminary phase.

The home crowd had reason to celebrate in the evening as the US men’s team closed their pool campaign with a 3-0 win over France (25-18, 25-20, 25-14). Japan also concluded their Pool B matches with a 3-0 result against India (25-18, 25-14, 25-23), completing the final day of group play. Kazakhstan will face Egypt in one men’s semi-final, while the United States will take on Brazil in the other.

With the preliminary phase completed, the competition moves to the crossover and classification rounds on Friday, which will determine final seeding and determine Saturday’s medal matches in Fort Wayne.
