The Braves have again signed veteran-rightty Carlos Carrasco to a contract from a minor league after designating him last week for an assignment, as stated first On the transaction log book on Milb.com. Carrasco has released exemptions, briefly chosen free desk, and now returned to a new minor League where he will serve as a depth arm for a Braves employees plagued by injuries. Carrasco is going to Triple-A Gwinnett for the time being.
Carrasco opened the season with the Yankees after signing a Minor League deal in the winter. He was rough for a 5.91 ERA in eight games (six starts) before he was removed from the 40-man Roster of the Yankees. He kept hanging around with their Triple-A-Club to an Atlanta team that was desperately looking for innings after a series of rotation injuries acquired Carrasco for cash before the Trade Deadline.
The 38-year-old Carrasco threw a quality start to the Reds on the Deadline Day, but was tagged for six points in 5 2/3 frames’s next time-out and six more runs in just two innings in his third start with the Braves. He threw 13 2/3 innings in general and registered an ERA of 9.88 during his short run with Atlanta. In combination with his earlier Yankees wrestings, Carrasco is this season to an ERA of 7.09 in 45 2/3 innings bent.
Carrasco made 29 solid starts for the 2022 Mets (3.97 ERA, 152 innings) but has now struggled a lot in three consecutive Major League seasons. He threw 239 1/3 MLB frames that goes back to 2023, but has registered only a 6.36 run average because his speed, strikeout, walking speed and home running speed have all been triggered in the wrong direction.
The rotation of Atlanta currently includes Spencer steps” Erick Fedde” Bryce Elder” Hurston Waldrrep And Joey Wentzalthough Chris Sale Is recovering and expected to return quickly. Sale threw 56 throws over four innings of one-run ball in his second Triple-a-revalidation start yesterday. He has been outside since mid -June because of fractures in his rib cage.
