Former Manchester United Academy player Brandon Williams is desperate to get his career back on the right track.
The defender debuted for the Senior Team in 2019 and played 51 games for the club.
He spent time on loan in Norwich City and Ipswich Town before he left Old Trafford in 2024 after his contract had passed.
Problems outside the field
Although he has clear talent, he has had his problems outside the field that have greatly influenced his progress.
The defender is now 24 years old and spent without a club last season.
He received a conditional punishment for dangerous driving after he had been guilty in March of this year.
Second chance
Nevertheless, he got a second chance when he completed a move to Hull City earlier this month.
Spend against Hull LiveWilliams has opened so far in his roller coaster career.
Responding to his problems outside the field, he stated: “It was my actions; I took responsibility for them. I apologized, and the only thing I can do now is just focus on my football and getting things on the field, and I am sure people will appreciate that.”
He claimed that in recent years have been a “learning process” and that he must now take responsibility for his actions.
Williams added: “I am growing up now, I am no longer a young player. I also become one of the senior players in the team, so it is important for me to help the young players because I know how difficult it is.”
The 24-year-old also claimed that everyone has forgotten what he has achieved when playing for Manchester United, including himself.
He added: “There are many people in the world who want their child or something. It was disturbing that I abandoned many people; it is for me to get things now. I have always said, I don’t want any sympathy of someone.”
Sergei Jakirovic fault
The Hull City manager Jakirovic played an important role in completing the deal to bring Williams to the MKM stadium.
Williams revealed the advice that his new boss gave him and said: “He told me the first time that I came in that it is a process and he believes in second chances. Happen, people have to do well and now it is up to me to give that trust back to him and the players. Just to work hard (Jakirovic’s message), show what I am about.”
Share when you return to team training
The graduate of the United Academy has been involved in individual training in recent months, but he spoke about his pleasure to be back in a team environment.
He said: “Even when the chance came, I immediately said because I wanted to be back in a team environment, back in the changing rooms, have lunch back with the boys and things like that, so even on the way I was excited here. It was a nice feeling.”
The defender also thought that he can take the positive points from his struggles and explained: “I am just glad that I went through it. I have many things to prove people I have disappointed, so it is important for me that I make that lost time good.”
Future goals
The 24-year-old added that he now has the mentality where he wants a total reset and only wants to work on a long and positive career in football.
He claimed: “It is now my mentality. I am also a different person. I am hungry, I have that desire, I have that determination to return to the top.”
Williams also claimed that he appreciates the risks that Hull has taken by offering him a deal and that it is his mission to repay their faith.
