Brandon Moreno has been a fairly consistent figure in the UFC flyweight division for a long time. In addition to being a two-time world champion, he has also competed against some of the best flyweights we have ever seen in the promotion.

He is currently on a two-fight win streak after comprehensive victories over Amir Albazi and Steve Erceg. However, looking ahead to the near future, Moreno faces another tough test in the form of a clash with Tatsuro Taira, with many believing he will have to beat the winner of Alexandre Pantoja vs Joshua Van if he wins – especially if it is Pantoja who triumphs in the co-main event of UFC 323.
In a recent interview, Moreno made it quite clear that he agreed with that assessment.
Moreno wants to win the UFC title with Taira’s victory
“I haven’t had a real conversation with the UFC about it yet, but it’s no secret that after I beat (Steve) Erceg, the UFC talked to me and told me that if Pantoja lost to Kai Kara-France, I would get the title,” Moreno told Hablemos MMA in Spanish. “That’s what they told me. Obviously I stayed very measured because I thought it would be difficult for Kai to beat Pantoja, but at the end of the day you never know in MMA.”
“So yeah, Pantoja won, so that put me in a bit of limbo. Tatsuro fought, but I think he didn’t want to fight until these months, so they had told me that in July and September, so it’s been a long process in that regard. I think if I beat Tatsuro, the opportunity to fight for the title would be undeniable.”
“There is Manel, who is fighting Royval. If Manel wins, maybe he can raise his hand too, but I am optimistic. I will say it again, I don’t know what is happening, but I feel optimistic and I feel good, and I have all the energy in the world to win back what is mine.”
