Srikkanth specifically recommended New Zealand all-rounder Mitchell Bracewell, who has put in impressive performances in white-ball cricket for the Kiwis this year. CSK, who struggled in the IPL 2025 and finished at the bottom of the points table, will look to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
“CSK already has a gun line-up of four with Gaikwad, Samson, Aayush Mhatre and Urvil Patel. So they won’t worry too much about their batting. If I was in the CSK management, I would go for a guy like Michael Bracewell. Everyone underestimates him. He has scored a brilliant century against India in Hyderabad. He can bowl well off-spin and is a left-hander who can tonk the ball. He is a good finisher,” said Srikkanth on his YouTube channel.
“Not many people talk about Michael Bracewell. Everyone keeps saying Livingstone, but the truth is that if Bracewell is encouraged, he will do well. It is where someone like Dhoni can develop him into a fantastic all-rounder,” he added.
Srikkanth also advised CSK not to bid for Indian leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi and South African veteran David Miller despite their high market value in the auction pool.
“I will definitely not buy Ravi Bishnoi. There is no room with him. They already have Shreyas Gopal. He is a good bowler. Besides, it has been ages since David Miller scored. And if he plays half the matches on the Chennai surface, it doesn’t suit him. Instead of Miller, I would prefer Bracewell, who will also give a few overs with the ball,” said Srikkanth.
‘I’ll try to pick them both [Liam] Livingstone and Bracewell. You will get both within 10 crores. That solves the spot under Dube. CSK definitely needs an all-rounder to fill the Jadeja gap, which semi-all-rounders like Livingstone and Bracewell will provide. I’ll definitely try to get someone like Cooper Connolly as well. He is a youngster and an all-size player who is also left-handed. This time he will definitely go to CSK as they can buy him for just 2 or 3 crores,” he added.
