Covington has hinted that he wants to move up to middleweight, and if he does, Nickal would be happy to welcome him to the division. The two got into it verbally at the RAF wrestling event last weekend, leading to Nickal wanting the fight. If the fight does happen, Nickal wants it to take place at the White House.
“Yes, that’s the plan,” Nickal said to Ariel Helwani about his next fight in the White House. … I’m not really talking about opponents, just the plan to get me on that card. I’m ready to go. This situation arose organically because I never had Colby on my radar. But he’s talking crazy things in the press and he’s saying he’s going to move to middleweight, I think it has to happen. I think everyone wants to see me beat that guy up. It would be fun, it would be electric.”
A fight between Bo Nickal and Colby Covington would be huge, and Nickal hopes it happens.
Bo Nickal Expects to ‘Embarrass’ Colby Covington
If Covington moves up to middleweight and fights Nickal, the former Penn State wrestler doesn’t expect it to be close.
Instead, Bo Nickal believes his wrestling is so much better that he would dominate Covington and end his career.
“I could just rip that guy apart, send him packing and end his career,” Nickal added. “(Colby) said he’s closing in on middleweight. I’m an easy check, so let’s get in there, and I’ll embarrass you in front of the whole world. This guy is a fraud. He’s a JUCO bum. He couldn’t hack it in wrestling.”
However, it is still uncertain whether Covington is sincere about the move to middleweight. But if so, fighting Nickal makes a lot of sense.
