Blue Jays Nation’s Top 25 Canadian Baseball Prospects for 2026: #25 Tim Piasentin
#25 – Piasentin team
Place of residence: Maple Ridge, B.C.
Organization: Toronto blue jays
Preliminary version: 5th round, 2025 (TOR)
Position: Third base
Bats/throws: Left/Right
Standing at 6-foot-1, the infielder has a ton of raw power in the batter’s box and can hit to all sides of the diamond. Piasentin has gained a lot of experience over the years with the Junior National Team, playing against some of the best talent south of the border as well as professional Dominican players in the pre-season cycle. He also played for Canada in the 2024 U18 PANAM Qualifier, playing alongside current Jays prospects Owen Gregg and Aiden Taggart.
Season 2025
Piasentin was a prominent member of the JNT squad and also suited up for the Okotoks Dawgs in 2025. The Canadians also toured the MLB Draft League last summer, going 6 for 18 (.333) with a double and three walks. He also played well on the JNT spring tour, going 9 for 24 (.375) against the Fort Lauderdale Stars, New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays and Pittsburgh Pirates teams. The BC product was also invited to the MLB Draft Combine at Chase Field and was ranked 108th overall by Baseball America heading into the draft.
Here’s Blue Jays 5th rounder Tim Piasentin launching balls into the Rogers Center bleatures at the Blue Jays Futures Academy last September. Piasentin was the winner of the derby. Perhaps a harbinger of what will happen in the future.
He saw no related action after the draft, a move the Jays commonly make with high school players, stashing them in Dunedin while they train and get reps under the guise of the Player Development Complex staff.
Looking ahead to 2026
Piasentin enters the 2026 campaign ranked No. 20 on the organization’s top roster, with scouts excited about his power at the plate and his ability to play against professional players before being drafted.
The odds of Piasentin starting his pro career in the Florida Complex League next season are incredibly high, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he follows the same trajectory as fellow Canuck Sam Shaw, which included a full season in Rookie Ball before being promoted to the Single-A/High-A depths in his third year. Piasentin’s calling card is his power and his bat, and the Jays will figure out where he fits on the field as he continues to develop.
