#17 – Myles Naylor
Place of residence: Mississauga, Ontario
Organization: Athletics
Preliminary version: Round 1, 2023 (ATH)
Position: Infielder
Bats/throws: R/R
The name “Naylor” is highly recognized in this era of baseball, both within the league and within the Canadian environment. Myles Naylor is the younger sibling among his brothers, Bo Naylor and Josh Naylor.
The family is very ingrained in the game; each sibling was a first-round draft pick for their respective clubs. Both his brothers are part of their respective clubs; Meanwhile, the younger Naylor continues to work in the minor leagues as he works his way to join his older brothers.
The infielder has three seasons of professional baseball under his belt so far in the minor leagues. He moved up from the rookie league to low-A ball in 2023. In 2024 and 2025, Naylor still spent his time in single-A Stockton.
Season 2025
Naylor played in 35 fewer games in 2025 than in 2024. He recorded 345 at-bats and 287 at-bats, collecting 53 hits, 51 runs, seven home runs, 37 RBIs and 10 stolen bases.
Defensively, Naylor worked primarily at third base, with 52 games played. Offensively, the Canadian candidate was still trying to find his feet. His offensive capabilities showed at times, with timely production.
The April 20 grand slam was an example of this, giving his team a several-point lead. Overall, his offense is still in the developmental stages and needs to be synchronized with the pace of the professional game.
Naylor’s batting average was less than satisfactory in 2025, averaging .185 with an on-base percentage of .319 and a slugging percentage of .307. The infielder swings and misses a lot and is eliminated by the strikeout. Last season, he struck out 137 times, of which he walked only 55 times.

Looking ahead to 2026
There is a lot that Naylor could benefit from this year. Record discipline is one thing, and pitch recognition is another. The right-hander has shown his power and ability to swing the bat with intent.
What he needs to focus on is compressing his swing into 0-2 counts and forcing contact. Naylor has a strong ability to put the ball in play when time is needed. He needs to be more consistent than just a .185 average, with fewer strikeouts and a better approach. He will need to improve his two-strike approach and do away with chase throws. Naylor needs a higher contact rate, especially on two hits. His swing should become shorter as he uses the entire court more, not just the pull side.
The infielder needs to refine his defensive skills, especially at third base, his respective position. He made 14 errors at third base in 2025. That’s a total of 17 errors in 2025 between three infield positions.
He’ll likely start again in single-A Stockton. Double-A would be his next promotion, and he was expected to make that jump this season.
