Blue Jays honor Dodgers’ Alex Vesia with special tribute in World Series

Before the World Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced that reliever Alex Vesia would be away from the team while he and his wife dealt with a “deeply personal family matter.”

In honor of one of the most effective parts of the bullpen, the rest of the Dodgers relievers wrote No. 51 on the side of their hats.

During Game 6, Blue Jays reliever Louis Varland was seen wearing number 51 on his hat. Upon further inspection, the rest of Toronto’s bullpen joined in on this incredible act.

While it’s unclear what Vesia and his family are going through, the support from both teams goes beyond just baseball.

During the postseason, Vesia posted four wins and two wins for a 3.86 ERA across seven appearances.

Amid the ongoing bullpen struggles this season, Vesia’s leadership and talents on the mound have been crucial.

Although he will be missed during the World Series, the Dodgers will keep him in their thoughts and prayers.
