Blackburn Rovers considered a move for the centre-back in the last transfer window. Rovers ultimately failed to get a deal over the line and instead pursued other goals.
The 26-year-old Nade stayed with AS Saint-Etienne after the early September deadline. He is under contract with the Ligue 2 club until June 2028 option of another twelve months on top of that, meaning they are under no pressure to sell him anytime soon and can wait for the right offer to come in for his signature.
According to Football at 7Valeria Ishmael’s side wanted to lure him to the location Championship. Panathinaikos has also been mentioned as a potential suitor.
Nade recently said: “I wanted to stay. It’s always worth getting requests. But I feel good here. My role has changed. I’m becoming one of the most experienced players, so I’m mentoring the young and new players. It’s a mission I’m happy to accept.”
Blackburn Rovers then looked elsewhere for players in Nade’s position. They delved into the market to land fellow second-division side Hull City’s Sean McLoughlin.
Blackburn Rovers looked at Mickael Nade’s movement
Blackburn Rovers could have seen Nade as someone who could boost their defensive department. If he had joined Rovers he would have given them more competition and depth at the back.
The Frenchman has spent his entire career at AS Saint-Etienne so far. He rose through the academy at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard and was a regular at various youth levels before initially breaking into the B team.
Nade stepped up to the first team in 2016 and has since made 114 appearances in all competitions to date, including nine this season, scoring eight goals and four assists from the back.
He was also loaned out to American side Quevilly-Rouen Métropole in the past to gain some experience. The man born in Sarcelles played 33 matches and scored once.

Could Blackburn Rovers rekindle Mickael Nade’s interest?
Blackburn Rovers have the opportunity to sign a number of players in January. Rovers could look to reignite their interest in Nade if they wanted to, but he appears to be settled at AS Saint-Etienne as they aim to return to Ligue 1 at the first time of asking.
Ismael’s side have started this season slowly and are just above the drop zone. Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday and Oxford United make up the bottom three.
Rovers return to action after the international break as they look to find some form and move up the table. They face a tricky trip to the CBS Arena to play high-flying Coventry City after their 1-1 draw with Stoke City last time out.
