Launching a counter-attack on Minister Priyank Kharge and Congress leader BK Hariprasad for their tirade against the RSS, the BJP on Sunday said it appeared that the Congress had deputed them exclusively to target the gang.

The BJP also took to social media where it posted a picture of AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, father of Mr Priyank Kharge, who as then Home Minister visited the venue of RSS’ ‘Samarasta Samavesha’ held at Nagawara in Bengaluru in 2002 to interact with the organisers.

“Today you are spewing venom against the RSS. But have you forgotten that in 2002, during the Samarasta Sangama program in Nagawara, Bengaluru, your father Mr Kharge, who was then the Home Minister, personally visited that camp, appreciated the social work of the RSS and extended full cooperation?”, the BJP said.

In another post on social media, BJP state president BY Vijayendra said, “Choir and chants of Jai Bharat Mata Kiresonated with both young and old of RSS branchesseem to have unnerved those who were used to hearing Pakistan Zindabad slogans.”

He alleged: “The Congress government, which has no problem with those who plot bomb blasts from across the borders of our state, is now seeing criminality in the RSS activities, the sole purpose of which is to Sarvangeena unnati of Bharat.”

He said that successive Congress governments had repeatedly made plans and schemes to ban the RSS but they had completely failed to do so due to the RSS ideology of nationalism and social reforms.

He warned that “Karnataka, whom Kuvempu describes as the proud daughter of Bharat Mata, will never tolerate any backhanded statements against his own motherland.”
