Two sides starting their respective Champions League play-off adventures on Wednesday evening, Club Brugge welcomes Atletico Madrid to the Jan Breydel Stadium.

The Spanish giants put in a nightmare performance as they slumped to a 3-0 thrashing against local foes Rayo Vallecano and have failed to find any form of stability since the opening of the new year. Wednesday’s guests ended their respective Champions League group stage adventures with an infamous 2-1 defeat at home to Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt. Despite claiming a remarkable 5-0 win in the Copa del Rey against Real Betis on February 5, this is the only victory Simeone’s side have registered in their previous five clashes against top opponents.
