The Bison got going early, but Utah scored on the first shot of the game to take a 1-0 lead in just four minutes and 38 seconds, which would be the only goal. Two minutes later, Mikael Robidoux took on a Grizzly at center ice for a scrimmage and helped the visitors regain the momentum. Bloomington drew a penalty just past the halfway point of the frame, but was unable to score on the man advantage. Shortly after the game returned to five-on-five, the Bison were awarded a penalty of their own and nearly completed the entire kill. With five seconds left on the minor, Utah was sent to the box to put up a handful of four-on-fours before Bloomington returned to the power play. The special teams play denied Utah opportunities to storm the offensive ice and allowed the Bison to take an 8-5 lead in the crucial middle stanza.

Just three and a half minutes later, Lou-Felix Denis blasted home his ninth goal of the season from Nikita Sedov and Cullen Ferguson to level the score. With the helper, Ferguson recorded his third assist of the weekend. Another power play opportunity came and went for Bloomington, but the Bison would find more success for the eventual game-winning goal. With Robidoux lurking deep on neutral ice, Chris Ortiz connected with him on a pass and the former knocked the puck off Utah’s netminder from the far circle after a partial breakaway. On the near side of the rink, a gaping cage invited Brad Morrisson to bury his second count as bison, and the visitors cashed in, gaining their first lead of the weekend at 3:48 p.m. Immediately after Grizzlie gained possession in the ensuing center ice confrontation, Robidoux was picked up with an offensive major and game misconduct. With three minutes and 50 seconds left in the period, McKay stayed steadfast in his crease and was credited with 12 saves in the period.
Bloomington completed the remaining 70 seconds of penalty kill transfer time on the major and again failed to capitalize on a power play with just over 12 minutes remaining. Soon after, the Bison managed to nullify Utah’s third power play, fending off a six-on-five play in the final two minutes. Sullivan Mack punctuated the 3-1 win with an empty-net goal from Morrison and Zakary Karpa with 13 seconds left, and McKay earned nine more saves en route to beating the team he was acquired from by Bloomington in November 2025.
