Billy Lange leaves St. Josephs to become a member of New York Knicks staff

Billy Lange went from the hot chair to the New York Knicks bank. After six seasons at Saint Josephs, Lange is expected to become a member of the Knicks coaching staff, a source of an athletic department Athletics. Former Penn coach Steve Donahue, who was hired in May to become head coach, will take over as the acting head coach.

Lange began to make a corner for the last two seasons and perhaps built the most talented team in the Atlantic 10. A core of raceheer Fleming (selected 31st in the NBA design), Xzayvier Brown (Athletics‘S 23rd-arranged transfer in the latest portal cycle) and Erik Reynolds (Die Summer League played for the Oklahoma City Thunder) had great expectations that came in last season and the final Elite Eight Team Texas Tech finished in the non-conference.

But the Hawks, chosen to finish third in the A-10 in the preseason, finished fifth, an overwhelming result given the amount of talent on the Roster. Lange would probably have been on hot -stubborn lists this year. While Phil Martelli struggled as head coach in his last years, Martelli never went six consecutive seasons without a NCAA tournament performance, and the Hawks had not come close to long.

Long was brought in to run an NBA attack, but that never seemed to rise. The Hawks finished only once in the top 100 in adapted attack-94e in 2023-24 and last season was the only year they had a winning record in the A-10.

This year’s team, Starter Justice Ajogbor returns, together with two others who started games in Derek Simpson and Anthony Finkley, but the window to compete near the top of the A-10 has probably been hired. According to Bart Torvik’s poll, the Hawks are the seventh best team in the A-10.

Donahue has been head coach for 24 seasons. He has a 331-344 career record and went 131-130 on Penn with one NCAA tournament performance in 2018.
