Bihar BJP leaders pay rich tributes to late Sushil Kumar Modi on his birth anniversary

Bihar unit Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) celebrated the 73rd birth anniversary of veteran BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, late Sushil Kumar Modi

All senior leaders of the party were present at the program organized in memory of the Padma Bhushan awardee, including his wife Jessie George.

His former Cabinet colleague and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar unveiled a life-size statue at the Sushil Modi Memorial Park in Rajendra Nagar, followed by floral tributes.

Mr. Kumar then went to the Shri Krishna Memorial Hall where the program was organized by Bihar BJP and inaugurated it by lighting a lamp.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh, Deputy Prime Minister Samrat Choudhary, Bihar Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar, Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Health Minister Mangal Pandey, Industries Minister Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, MP Radhamohan Singh, BJP state president Sanjay Saroagi, BJP general secretary Bhikhubhai Dalsania and Bihar BJP in-charge Vinod Tawde were present.

In a video message on social media platform ‘X’, BJP National Working President Nitin Nabin also paid heartfelt tributes to Modi.

“Sushil Modi ji, who started his politics as a student leader and played an important role in the JP movement, always maintained transparency. He made his identity through the struggle and as Bihar’s Finance Minister left his mark on his financial prowess,” Mr Nabin said.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Choudhary, who also holds the portfolio of the Ministry of Home Affairs, said Modi left an indelible mark on the development of Bihar and his entire public life was a living example of honesty, simplicity and principled politics.

He also claimed that Sushil Modi prioritized the fight against corruption, good governance and development in his long political career.

“He did unprecedented work for the development of Bihar as Deputy Chief Minister; he also played a strong role in the Opposition. When Sushil Modi came to the meeting, the then government was apprehensive about what new file he would file to expose them. Being in the Opposition, he exposed several cases of corruption,” Mr Choudhary said.

He added that Sushil Modi was a living example of honesty, simplicity and principled politics, who made significant contributions to the development of Bihar. Mr Choudhary also pointed out that Sushil Modi’s life is a source of inspiration for youth and newcomers in politics.

Mr. Saraogi, on the other hand, said, “He started his life’s journey as a volunteer of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He worked in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) for many years. He played a crucial role in strengthening the organization and demonstrated administrative efficiency as Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar. He was the epitome of loyalty, fearlessness and honesty.”

Mr Saraogi praised the late leader, adding that a testament to his integrity was that throughout his political career, no one ever questioned his character.

“He exposed the food fraud. When we are in power today, Sushil Modi plays an important role in it. His honesty and service still inspire us. He increased the state budget while maintaining financial balance as Finance Minister,” Mr Saraogi said.

Giriraj Singh reiterated the same saying that Modi remained steadfast against corruption and injustice.

Patna Sahib MP Ravi Shanka Prasad said Sushil Modi would always be remembered as a leader for changing the history of Bihar.
