Bettinardi SB2 Antidote Putter (high MOI rated hammer)

Bettinardi SB2 Antidote Putter (high MOI rated hammer)

The Bettinardi Antidote SB2 putter is one of four models in the series and features an extremely forgiving mallet zero-torque design.

Launched as part of the Antidote putter seriesthe SB2 is accompanied by the SB1 blade and the SB3 and SB5 hammers as the four zero-torque options.

Developed over two years, the putter features Bettinardi’s Simply Balanced technology, which ensures the face remains square throughout the stroke for maximum control and consistency on the greens.

The SB2 offers a confidence-inspiring mallet-sized head – although it’s on the larger side of the description – and comes both standard and SB2 Long as the brand’s first long-handled or broomstick putter shaft.

Advantages and disadvantages

✅ Very stable ‘zero-torque’ design that ensures the clubface remains straight at impact
✅ Strong performance on short and especially medium putts
✅ Simply Balanced geometry works for a wide range of stroke types
✅ FIT face milling provides a soft, responsive feel that many players find more traditional than other technical mallets
✅ Excellent help in aligning the top line plus double flange lines
❌ Performance on longer putts is solid, but not best in class
❌ Loft and lie are fixed at the factory, limiting customization options
❌ The zero torque feel and extreme face stability may not be suitable for a heavy arc strike
❌ The price is at the top end of the putter market

Design and specifications of the Bettinardi Antidote SB2 putter

The SB2 Antidote putter features a mid-mallet shape with a sleek profile and high MOI design for maximum forgiveness.

Compared to the SB1, the SB2 reverses the material rolls with a 6061 aluminum housing paired with a 303 stainless steel insert.

Bettinardi’s FIT face milling technology removes 55% of the face material for a softer SB2 feel at impact without sacrificing responsiveness.

The putter’s finish scheme is also reversed, with a Sapphire Blue anodized body and a Diamond Blast face.

The SB2 also uses Simply Balanced Technology for face stability and improved shot consistency, with the centered center of gravity minimizing torque during the swing.

The heavier club head makes it best suited for players who prefer a straight back, a straight stroke or who have difficulty with facial rotation during their stroke.

The SB2 putter has a negative shaft offset (-1 degree) that promotes natural forward pressure to keep the stroke square and connected.

An additional version of the putter has been added to the portfolio with the launch of the SB2 Long, featuring a broomstick-style shaft.

Bettinardi Antidote SB2 Putter Review: Is It Good?

The SB2 takes forgiveness to the next level and it does one of the best zero torque putterswhile maintaining a square stroke at impact, as well as excellent distance control and a pleasantly soft feel at impact.

The SB2 hammer is all about improved forgiveness and alignment stability, where the combination of a heavier aluminum body with a steel face insert helps distribute weight outward to increase MOI without sacrificing feel.

It delivers the goods and scores highly on many of the key points golfers expect from a mallet putter. The only negative point is the price compared to other models in the zero-torque sector.
