A week before the Ryder Cup arrives in New York for the first time in 30 years, the PGA of America announced three of its most important championships until 2035 in the Empire State.
The KPMG Ladies PGA is played on the Black Course in Bethpage Black in 2028, while the PGA championship goes to Bethpage Black for the second time in 2033.
The PGA of America said that the PGA championship will return to Oak Hill near Rochester for the fifth time in 2035.
The Ryder Cup starts on 26 September in Bethpage Black, the fleshy public course on Long Island. Bethpage Black previously organized the US Open in 2002 and 2009.
The PGA for Women has been run together by the PGA of America and LPGA Tour since 2015 when the second oldest major in women’s golf received an important upgrade. It had replaced a regular LPGA event in the Rochester area in Locust Grove and Monroe. But since 2015 it was not back to New York under the tournament structure in Westchester.
“Bringing the KPMG Women’s PGA championship to Bethpage Black is an important milestone and reflects our dedication to organize this event on premier courses in large markets,” said Don Rea Rea Jr., who serves a two-year period as PGA of America President.
Since the PGA of America cooperation with the LPGA, the PGA has gone to eight courses for women that previously organized Majors, including Baltus role in New Jersey, Olympia Fields south of Chicago, Hazeltine in Minnesota and congress towards the capitol of the nation.
“Locations matter. They raise our athletes and strengthen the moments that our game defines,” said LPGA Commissioner Craig Kessler.
Brooks Koepka won the last two PGA championships in New York – in 2019 in Bethpage Black and in 2023 in Oak Hill.
Bethpage Black will be the epicenter of Professional Golf next week when it organizes the 45th Ryder Cup, the continuation of a rich history of competition with the public layout.
The PGA championship moved from August to May from 2019, and it was managed to escape Frigide weather at Bethpage Black in 2019 and Oak Hill in 2023, although there was a prince delay in the first round at Oak Hill.
New York also has the US Open next year at Shinnecock Hills, and the Western Golf Association brings the BMW championship – a FedExcup Playoff event event on the PGA Tour – to Liberty National in New Jersey in 2027.
The PGA Tour no longer went to the Metropolitan Area in New York in 2021 when it lost a title sponsor that had rotated the first postseas event between New York and Boston.
The Ryder Cup, who expected great and loud crowds in Bethpage Black, was the last in New York in Oak Hill in 1995. Europe won, the start of a piece in which it has conquered the Ryder Cup 10 of the last 14 times.
