Best Dodgers Highlights of 2025: No. 10 Shohei Ohtani Walk-Off During His Bobblehead Night

The Dodgers had too many big highlights to count in 2025, but this is a good start. Kicking off this year’s Dodgers Nation Top 10 highlights is Shohei Ohtani’s walk-off home run on his bobblehead night, which gave the Dodgers an 8-0 start to the regular season.

LA got off to an electric start to the season, winning both games in the Tokyo Series before defeating the Detroit Tigers in a three-game series at home. They continued to win the first two games of their next series against the Atlanta Braves, but ran into foul trouble in the final game of the series.

The Braves scored the first few runs of the game, with Marcell Ozuna crossing the plate on a Max Muncy error and Matt Olson scoring on a Nick Allen double in the top of the first inning.

After a quiet bottom half of the Dodgers’ first inning, the Braves came out in the top of the second inning and extended their lead to five.

Ozzie Albies hit a double to make it 3-0, and a double by Olson scored two more.

But then the Dodgers began their comeback.

Tommy Edman hit his fourth home run in eight games to cut the score to 5-2 in the bottom of the second, and Michael Conforto hit a solo shot in the bottom of the fourth to bring the Dodgers within two.

Blake Snell had two shutout innings after allowing the Braves’ five runs, and a combination of Ben Casparius, Kirby Yates and Jack Dreyer kept the Braves quiet for the remainder of the game.

Max Muncy tied the game with a double of his own in the bottom of the eighth, and with one out in the bottom of the ninth, the eventual MVP came through for LA.

Ohtani forced a changeup on Raisel Iglesias’ first pitch to center, and the ball went just past the outstretched glove of Michael Harris II and over the wall, giving the Dodgers a 6-5 win.

This victory set the tone for the rest of the season and gave the Dodgers the best start by a defending champion in MLB history.
