“Would we have even been engaged if we hadn’t posted it?” Pera, 31, joked in the caption announcing the news. Fellow WTA players filled the comments with congratulatory messages, including Marta Kostyuk, Caroline Garcia, Shelby Rogers, Asia Muhammad and Elisabetta Cocciaretto. Montenegrin Danka Kovinic added to the excitement by revealing that she has already picked out a dress for the party.
Croatian-born Pera, a former world number 27, enjoyed the most successful part of her career in 2022, when she claimed her only two WTA titles back-to-back in Budapest and Hamburg. Her fiancé Krajina is a professional basketball player who moved to the United States as a high school student, played college basketball at Mount St. Mary’s University in Maryland and later built an international career across Europe and now in Taiwan.
