Beneil Dariush has long been an interesting prospect in the UFC lightweight division. Unfortunately, he was never really able to earn a title, but he’s certainly close. Looking ahead to the near future, the 36-year-old likely has another big run in him at 155 pounds – and his latest hopeful path to gold began last June with a win over Renato Moicano.

Now, at UFC 322, Dariush will face Benoit Saint Denis in a very important fight for both men. If Beneil manages to raise his hand, and in a decisive manner, he could be right back in the championship picture after many had already written him off.
In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Dariush spoke openly about his setbacks, but also about what he hopes to achieve in the future.
Dariush looks ahead to a hopeful title run
“It’s good to get a win – losing is very hard for me,” Dariush told MMA Junkie Radio. “I have spent a lot of time on my craft and believe I am the best in the world and I want to get my chance to prove that. Unfortunately I fell short, but now I have to work to get back to that position.”
“I don’t feel like I’m going to slow down. I think things will change and I’ll have an even bigger run than before.”
“It’s very round,” Dariush said. “I can win in a lot of different ways, and I can lose in a lot of different ways. It’s going to be a tactical fight and ultimately I think whoever is the most versatile is going to win this fight. I have to make sure I stay sharp on everything. Offense, defense and everything in between. It’s the little holes in MMA that make a big difference, so I just have to stay sharp.”
