Speak with Submission radio In the wake of his recent setback, Dariush talked about how he felt ready to deliver an all-time career performance, feeling involved in all facets of his preparation until fight week hurdles arose. Despite the weight loss that saw him drop to 157.2 pounds, Dariush said he felt fine in some ways on fight day, but noticed he wasn’t able to shoot the same way he normally would.
As for some post-fight activities, he has taken part in them, which could mean a departure from 155 pounds, Dariush said [via Sherdog],
“I thought to myself, ‘Maybe I’ll go to 170.’ … I did some tests here and I did what’s called a DEXA scan. Actually I was at 185, 186 with 10% body fat. That means I have about 19 pounds of fat to lose. Getting to zero is quite dangerous; injuries are very common. I’m just going through the process to see if 155 is reasonable for me. I got the information from them and then contacted the UFC, so I’m going there this week and doing some testing there. Just to be sure.”
Beneil Dariush and his recent rough patch in the UFC
Beneil Dariush has had a bit of a tumultuous stretch as of late, with losses to Charles Oliveira and Arman Tsarukyan in recent times, in addition to the aforementioned loss to BSD on November 15.
Dariush was able to pick up a victory over former UFC lightweight title challenger Renato Moicano through this recent bout of adversity as Dariush earned a victory over the Brazilian mixed martial artist at UFC 317 in June.
