New York (AP) -Brayan Bello threw seven innings of three-hit ball and led the Boston Red Sox to a 1-0 win over the New York Yankees on Friday evening that achieved the season series between the old rivals.
Boston moved half a game for the Yankees for the first Wild Card of the American League and improved this year to 7-1 against New York after losing the first meeting on 6 June.
Bello (10-6) allowed Singles to Ben Rice, Trent Grisham and Austin Wells and allowed four baserunners in his third scoreless start this season and second against the Yankees. After giving up Grisham’s hit, the right -handed rice to ground in a double play to end the third. Wells was first doubled in the sixth on a line drive from Grisham.
Connor Wong hit an RBI Double Off Mark Leiter Jr. (5-7) In the seventh after Pinch-Hitter Nathaniel Lowe doubled.
Boston Rookie Jhostynxon Garcia went 0 for 3 with a walk and three strikeouts in his Major League debut. He hit Max Fried in the fourth when a squirrel ran into the field and briefly delayed the game.
The Yankees lost their second consecutive, both from Boston, after a five-game extraction streak and left 5 1/2 games behind Toronto in the Al East. New York was excluded this season for the ninth time.
Fried allowed four hits in six scoreless innings. He eliminated seven, but tied a season high with three free runs and was lifted after 99 lines.

Garrett Whitlock eliminated Pinch-Hitter Giancarlo Stanton on three throws to end the eighth. Aroldis Chapman raged two in the ninth for his 25th rescue.
