The club has started well under new manager Xabi Alonso. He currently leads the LaLiga standings by one point ahead of rivals Barcelona and has won three of four Champions League matches. ..Continue reading
However, reports suggest that some players are unhappy with their limited involvement with the former midfielder.
According to GMS, this led to Vinicius Jr. Florentino Perez has announced that he does not want to renew his contract under the current circumstances.
Spanish media claim he is not alone, with six other players reportedly also unhappy.
Vinicius Jr
As previously noted, Vini Jr. frustrated with the way he is being deployed, fueling speculation about his future. He has only completed 90 minutes five times this season, which would be his main problem.
His anger boiled over during El Clásico when he was sent off, leading to an apology in the dressing room and in public – although he notably excluded the manager from his comments.
Although Alonso has said the matter has been resolved, tensions may still persist.
Rodrygo
Rodrygo’s situation became worrying in the summer when Alonso left him out of the Club World Cup in favor of Arda Guler and Franco Mastantuono.
Despite interest from Liverpool and Arsenal, he stayed, but only had limited minutes. He started just three La Liga games and one in the Champions League, with no goals and one assist. With the World Cup approaching, his lack of playing time is becoming an increasing problem.
Judas Bellingham
The England international continues to produce key moments, including a recent equalizer against Elche. But after missing the start of the season due to injury, his relationship with Alonso is reportedly not strong.
While there is no doubt about his future, he is said to prefer the more attacking role he had under Carlo Ancelotti, which could soon become a talking point.
Brahim Diaz
Diaz has struggled to make an impact this season. He started just four games in all competitions and logged just 427 minutes.
He is behind Guler, Mastantuono, Vini Jr and Bellingham in the pecking order. Despite scoring once and assisting twice, he feels underutilized, which has put a strain on his relationship with the coach.
Endrik
Endrick’s lack of playing time has surprised few. After recovering from an injury early in the season, he found opportunities scarce, especially when Gonzalo Garcia impressed at the Club World Cup.
He played just 11 minutes under Alonso and a move to Lyon in January is expected. His dream of becoming a star in Madrid has not come true, leaving him discouraged.
Federico Valverde
Once a mainstay in midfield, Valverde was known for his work rate and defensive attitude. Now he is struggling to adapt to Alonso’s preference for technical control.
He is often eliminated early or deployed as a right back, a role he is reportedly reluctant to accept. Although he denied refusing to play defense, it is clear that there is a stylistic mismatch.
Mendy
Mendy, previously the first-choice left-back, has fallen behind Alvaro Carreras and Fran Garcia and has not played at all this season.
After 25 appearances last season, this drop in status was unexpected. Given his lack of involvement, a move away from Madrid seems likely.
