Daniil Medvedev, a former world NO1, has so far had a roller coaster of a season and therefore has fallen from the top ten to 18, but now seems to have fueled his Mojo in the China Open in Beijing, after he had left the first round of the US Open.
To win a lot of return games, you have to respond quickly on the return, run faster at the next recording. Everything should be better, but it’s not so bad Daniil Medvedev
29-year-old Russian put Spain Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-3 6-3 aside to make the last eight of the ATP 500 level tournament in Beijing while he hopes to reach the final corresponding to his 2023-Run.
“Perhaps the feeling of the game, the general consciousness [which I have been] Lately, “Medvedev replied when he was asked what was missing in his game.” I try to get that back, and that’s why I’m happy today. To win a lot of return games, you have to respond quickly on the return, run faster at the next recording. Everything must be better, but it’s not that bad. “
That newly found motivation will be tested when he is opposite his rival, the second placed Alexander Zverer, for a place in the semi-final after the German has survived a serious challenge from the Frenchman Corentin Moutet who forced him to come back from a breakdown in the third set to prevail 7-5 3-6 6-3.
The variety of Moutet and Court Craft kept the big German on the defense, but in the end his shot strength continued him after two hours of 38 minutes of tight play and gathered six of the eight games of 0-1 in the decisive set.

“He plays well, there is no secret,” Zverev said about Moutet who hit 40 winners past him. “The way he played in the summer and how much he was improved was phenomenal. He is a very difficult opponent, so I am happy to continue.”
“I no longer felt physical today, I was in some pain,” said Zverev, who had an injection into his back prior to his campaign in Beijing. “I sometimes crashed a bit on myself, but when it mattered, I fought and in the third set I thought I played the best tennis.”
After having won seven of their last eight meetings, Medvedev Zverev 13-7 of all their earlier meetings leads to him a huge psychological advantage. On the Zverev side, however, he made the last four three times in his previous Beijing performances.
Zverev is currently also fourth in the race to Turin for the ATP final of November, so has a position to protect, while Medvedev, a former winner of the prestigious event, overtaken many to do to qualify from the 21st. Wining Beijing would lift him to 14 to 14.
Earlier, Lorenzo Musetti continued to bounce back from his Chengdu Final Heartbreak by making a quarterfinals in Beijing with the American teenage leather ten.
The fourth placed Italian who is seventh in the race to Turin, moved past the French qualification Adrian Mannarino 6-3 6-3 to strengthen his place for a first ATP Finals appearance.
In the meantime, the 19-year-old Ten disrupted the Italian Flavio Cobolli 6-3 6-2 to reach his fifth Tour Quarter final where he still has to lose.
The last line-up of China Open Quarter therefore sees Jannik Sinner opposite Fabian Marozsan, Alez de Minauraur opposite Jakub Mensik, ten versus Musetti and probably the biggest match of the quarters, Medvedev against Zverev.
