Multiple group winner and placed in group 1 Beauvatier who last won the Challenge Stakes (G2) at Newmarket Racecourse will be at Haras d’Etreham in 2026.

The 4 year old son of Lope de Vega was a tough and talented performer for trainer Yann Barberot. He made a successful debut in May of his 2-year-old season over five furlongs at Chantilly before beating the top class Ramatuelle in his second start at Saint-Cloud, this time over six furlongs.

He earned a black type by winning the listed Prix Roland de Chambure in July and followed up with a first group success in the 2024 Prix la Rochette (G3). He also finished third Rosallion in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere (G1) at Longchamp that autumn.

Beauvatier continued to race at the highest level in 3rd and 4th places, taking further Group 1 places last year in the Prix Maurice de Gheest (G1) and Prix de la Foret (G1), as well as two further group wins in the Prix de Ris-Orangis (G3) and Challenge Stakes. He will make his final start in the Hong Kong Mile (G1) in December before joining Haras d’Etreham.

Beauvatier was bred by a partnership that includes Ecurie des Monceaux and Qatar Bloodstock, as they were excluded from the stakes Sea The Stars mare Enchanting Skies, a half-sister of Preis von Europa (G1) scorer Empoli from the classic German family of Elle Danzig.

Nicolas de Chambure of Haras d’Etreham said: “Beauvatier’s pace and speed have always been impressive. His remarkable pedigree already made him an exciting stallion when we bought him at 2 years old, and he has met our expectations at every stage. He has the full package: powerful, consistent, with exceptional acceleration and the mentality of a true competitor.

“His racing career has taken us on a great adventure with our colleagues and we are delighted to welcome him to Haras d’Etreham. A true 1400m horse, just like Siyouni and Wootton Bassett, he has a very interesting profile for French breeders.”

Barberot added: “He showed his talent in the Challenge Stakes. I would like to thank Philippe Allaire, who supports me by purchasing horses of this caliber for me to train. He has enabled me to rise to a new level and I have great confidence that the horse will be successful in his stallion career.

“He has speed, speed, is incredibly consistent and has never seen a vet before. I’m really looking forward to training his offspring.”

Haras d’Etreham, LNJ Foxwoods and Philippe Allaire will retain 50% ownership of Beauvatier, which they will strongly support with their respective broodmare bands. The remaining 50% will be syndicated.

Beauvatier’s fee will be announced in the coming weeks.
