With a few factors at play, Tony Gollan is confident Torabella can strike back at Eagle Farm.

Battling for the early lead and then being trapped three wide into the series, Torabella had a torrid time in her last starting appearance, and Tony Gollan is not prepared to let that happen again.

Torabella started the $3.70 favorite in the Listed Tails Stakes (1500m) at Eagle Farm two weeks before finishing 10th and the five-year-old returns to the scene on Saturday in the Listed Members Mile (1600m) as a $7 chance at 54kg.

“She became favorite when there seemed to be no speed at all last time,” said Gollan.

“Then they suddenly wanted to go all out.

“She finished alongside Sibaaq who won the Open 1800m last week, so I don’t think her beaten form is that bad as she did far too much work in the first half.

“I just want her to have a more comfortable run where she can lead, she can’t lead and be third or fourth. I really want her to have a more comfortable run early.”

“She’s definitely doing well enough to win this race.”

Eagle Farm was rated Soft 5 on Thursday morning with a chance of ten millimeters of rain during the day and possibly another six millimeters on Friday.

Gollan hopes enough water falls on the track so that it doesn’t create a solid Eagle Fam surface.

Tails Stakes winner Miss Joelene will also start the same race and is market favorite at $2.75.

Among his other runners on the day, Gollan saddles four in the Listed Falvelon Stakes (1500m), where the stable, sturdy Hidden Wealth is priced at $3.90.

Brisbane’s top trainer expects the six-year-old gelding to stay up to the task despite the 60kg load on his back as he looks for the stable’s fourth victory in the race.

“He didn’t do well in the George Moore Stakes,” said Gollan.

“The winner (Caballus) was brilliant, but I think he could still have finished second.

“He is a class horse and that is why he has the 60 kilos. He is in good condition and I would like to have some rain around.”
