Proud owner and breeder, Walk Proud Pty Ltd (Gary Crocker) believes the filly could be something special.
“This filly may be Aratusa Lass’ best progeny since Major Crocker,”
Crocker said after the win.
Beach babe Crocker is the latest star to emerge from the incredible Aratusa Lass family – a line that continues to make waves in Australia and even internationally.
A bargain transformed into a breeding kingdom
Aratusa Lass was never touted as a future matriarch. Bought for only $2500the daughter of DM Dilinger and Classic Garry mare Fanciful was secured by Crocker and fellow Jay Tokin, acting on the recommendation of Shepparton trainer Ross Pike.
The lineage certainly held promise; her mother Fanciful produced her seven winners from seven foalswhile her only other filly, Marungi Babe, left three winnersincluding the $100,000-plus artist Smokin Tally.
Aratusa Lass stood tall in her own racing career by collecting 18 winsincluding two in Moonee Valley. Yet her deep mark was left when she entered the breeding stable.
An impeccable record: 10 foals, 10 winners
Crocker retained full ownership of Aratusa Lass throughout her broodmare career, and she repaid that trust in astonishing fashion:
10 foals. 10 winners. A 100% producing record.
Twice crowned South Australian Broodmare of the Yearshe produced a series of tough, talented and enduring artists:
- Major Crocker – Group 1 winner, first SA-bred earner of $1 million, 73 career wins (43 in North America), best of 1:49.2 at Pocono Downs
- Adam Crocker – $226,642 in earnings, winner of Group 2 in Australia and multiple wins in North America, where he recorded his best time of 1.49.6
- Innocent Krocker – $106,636, now mother of rising star Spook Crocker
- Offyarocka Crocker – $103,717
- Eva Crocker – $122,517, recently produced a Bettor’s Delight filly
- Lisa Crocker — mother of Lil Miss Crocker
- Samara Crocker — mother of Beachbabe Crocker
- Additional winners continue the production line
Major Crocker remains the main act; his career in the Pacific only strengthens the family’s reputation. But his sisters, and now their daughters, ensure that the dynasty remains central.
And the story is not finished yet.
“Aratusa Lass is going to have a foal from Catch The Fire at any moment,” Crocker revealed.
“After that she was booked with My General Lee, and that will most likely close the book on her breeding career.”
The dynasty continues to grow
The rise of Beachbabe Crocker reinforces that Aratusa Lass’ influence is destined to last well into the future. Her daughters Samara and Lisa are already producing winners, proving the strength and consistency of the dam line.

What once seemed like a modest purchase has become one South Australia’s greatest modern breeding success stories – a legacy that continues to grow with every new foal and every winning performance.
And with Beachbabe Crocker already a group winner and still early in her career, there’s a good chance her name will soon feature prominently in the list of Aratusa Lass champions.
The next generation is here – and they are fast.
