BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) Secretary Devajit Saikia condemned the shocking assault on two Australian women’s team cricketers ahead of their match against South Africa at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.
According to Cricket Australia (CA), the incident occurred when the players were walking to a cafe on Thursday, October 23. Two Australian players were “inappropriately touched” by a man riding a motorcycle.
The perpetrator, named Aqeel Khan, was subsequently arrested by police. He belongs to Khajrana but now lives in Azad Nagar. He has a criminal past.
Saikia said in his statement that it is an “isolated incident” and will be handled under a zero-tolerance policy. He also said that the BCCI will try to strengthen security measures if necessary to ensure that such incidents do not happen in the future.
