BBC Sport pundit on the money with this on Newcastle United?

Some interesting comments from this BBC Sport pundit on Newcastle United.

Chris Sutton speaks ahead of Tuesday’s match.

Newcastle United kick off against Spurs in the Premier League, just five weeks after beating them 2-0 at home in the League Cup.

United take on Spurs at St James’ Park tonight at 8.15pm.

Newcastle United’s players know how huge this would be if they can achieve a third Premier League win in a row, possibly even moving up to seventh place.

With, of course, a Premier League home game against Burnley on Saturday.

Eddie Howe and Newcastle United are now sixteen weeks into the season.

Chris Suton talk to BBC Sport – December 1, 2025:

“Tottenham boss Thomas Frank needs a result.

“He was so relaxed when he was at Brentford but now he looks like a man under pressure.

“Frank says the fans who booed Guglielmo Vicario after his mistake against Fulham “can’t be real Tottenham fans” underlines the friction he feels at the moment, but he does have a point about the effect it has.

“As a player who has been booed a lot over the years, I can tell you that this has no positive impact on your performance. But when I take it seriously, I just don’t get it; it just creates negativity.”

“The Spurs players will probably be relieved to be able to play away after that, but Newcastle have found a bit of form in the last week so this isn’t an easy trip at all.

“Tottenham have already lost at St James’ Park in the Carabao Cup this season and I will be looking for a repeat of the result with the same scoreline.

“Prediction: Newcastle 2 Spurs 0”

My thoughts

So is the BBC Sport expert here on money?

I can’t really disagree with much of what Chris Sutton has said here.

As he says, United beat Spurs 2-0 in the Carabao Cup five weeks ago. Frank’s side went into the match at St James’ Park on a run of just two wins in their last seven games in all competitions, while the NUFC match started a run of seven for Spurs, which saw five defeats and just one win.

Tonight, Eddie Howe’s team also go into the Spurs match on a run of six home wins in a row.

If the BBC Sport pundit turns out to be right and it makes it seven home wins in a row and a clean sheet tonight, I won’t complain.
