Temperatures that Burned part of the Bay Area On Tuesday and Wednesday, at least double digits would fall on Thursday, largely because of the winds created by low pressure in the atmosphere that held a two -day warming to get a traction.
Yet the fire -hazardous figures are as important as it has been at any time this year, according to the National Weather Service and Fire officials.
“That lowest layer on the Pacific Northwest causes a pressure gradient in the region,” said NWS meteorologist Dial Hoang Thursday. “That ensures that the winds pick up their intensity, especially in the coastal area and some fit.”
According to Hoang, it is expected that those winds will blow steadily with gusts of wind between 25-40 km / h. He added that there is still power on the coast, but that elements are associated with off-shore winds from the north are also present
As a result, the weather service gave what it has called a “near-critical fire threat” until Saturday, because the humidity is expected to fall to between 15-25 percent. The threat is the most dangerous in the East Bay Hills, the East -Santa Clara Hills and the Gabilan Range of the provinces of San Benito and Monterey, according to the Weather Service. Hoang said that the Altamont pass is also in the danger zone.
Before that again established, fire -personnel were forced to grab a natural fire in Antioch that grew to 290 hectares. Crews stopped on Wednesday evening the forward progress and had the fire of 80% on Thursday, according to fire brigade officers.
PG&E responded to the weather threat by announcing a rejection of public safety. At 7.30 am Thursday, 489 customers were in counter -Costa County without electricity, most of them near the Kirker Pass Road area, although only 91 were the result of the closure, according to the utility. In Santa Clara County there were around 805 customers without electricity.
“Because the winds are so strong, the inner areas are really getting dry,” Hoang said. “That is where the raised fire weather comes from.”
The gusts of wind are expected to continue at least until Saturday and probably through, Hoang said. Their intensity is expected to fall considerably by Sunday, together with some of the immediate fire hazard.
As far as temperatures are concerned, according to the weather service on Thursday, they will not be higher than the low 80s in the most popular places. Most domestic places will not escape the 70s, while coasting temperatures are expected to remain in the 60s. Hoang said they will stay there until at least the middle part next week.
