With spring training and the regular season just around the corner and some new staff vacancies here at Battery Power, we’ve decided to officially open applications to find new writers! If you want the opportunity to write about the Braves for what is (in our own biased opinion) the best website on the Internet for fan-based coverage of the Braves, this is your chance to throw your hat in the ring.
We are looking for writers who want to help game coverage at least once a week (including weekends). Any analysis pieces and willingness to subscribe to the news coverage would be nice too, but we’re mainly trying to find writers willing to do so previews, cover lineups, postgame threads, and recaps for some games during the regular season. It would be a paid position, albeit a part-time position with a monthly stipend.
Obviously, we’re looking for Braves fans with previous writing experience to cover the team, but all writers from all backgrounds and previous experiences are encouraged to apply. Whether you’re a writer who has been counting down the days until baseball season since the last pitch of the 2025 World Series was thrown, or someone who is simply ready to enter the world of baseball writing directly for the first time, we encourage you to apply. So yes, we are trying to cast this net as wide as possible to open it up to as many interested parties as possible. This is a fun gig and we want to bring in some new writers for fun!
We ask you to do the same both No. 1 and no. 2 OR that you do number 3 on itself.
Below we will tell you how you can apply. While we try to cast this net as widely as possible, it would still be a plus for you if you are familiar with being able to apply statistics and data from FanGraphs, Baseball-Reference, Baseball Savant (Statcast), and Baseball Prospectus. Again, it’s not a requirement, but it’s certainly a plus.
Submit your article and/or pitch a .docx or .pdf attachment via email Unpleasant battery powerbn [at] gmail [dot] com. Please include ‘New Writer Request’ in the subject line. Please add your CV also to email. If you have social media that you would like to share with us, please provide us with your details as well. If you happen to have links to your previous writings (like thisfor example) share that too.
We close applications at 11:59 PM ET on Friday, February 20. We will announce the new writers at the beginning of March, ideally in the first week of March. Thanks for reading and we look forward to seeing how this process goes!
