Jules Kounde has emerged as one of the most reliable and consistent artists for FC Barcelona during his time at the club.
Although no natural right back, the French international has brilliantly adapted to the role and last season it was an integral part of the team’s domestic triumph.
As such, the Catalans have now wanted to extend his contract for a while, and the player himself confirmed during the pre-season tour by Asia that an agreement had been reached.
Kounde will sign his new contract today
According to journalist July Claramunt van JEAMTS FCKounde will sign his new contract renewal with Barcelona this Friday.
The previous deal of the 26-year-old defender with the Blaugrana Ran until the summer of 2027, and his new will be seen extended by another three years to 2030.
The update indicates that although the player will sign his contract today, Barcelona will postpone a few days when making an official announcement.
Kounde arrived in Barcelona in the summer of 2022 and signed at Sevilla – to reject a much more lucrative offer from Chelsea during the process.
Until now, the versatile defender has made in his time with the Catalan giants 141 performances in which he has seven goals, including the match winner in the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid last season. He also has 18 assists to his name.
In recent months, Barcelona has been proactive with regard to recording important players to new contracts.
The will of Pedri, Gavi, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha all have new deals, and Kounde will join the list by signing his extension today.
