Bangladesh Women will tour India for white-ball series in December

Bangladesh Women will tour India in mid-December for a white-ball series, featuring three ODIs and as many T20Is as part of the ICC Future Tours Program (FTP). A Bangladesh Cricket Board official reportedly confirmed the development on Thursday, October 30, adding that talks are underway between the two boards to finalize the tour programme. The tour is expected to take place in Kolkata and Cuttack.

The ODI leg of the tour marks the start of the new cycle of the ICC Women’s ODI Championship cycle for both teams.

“We are expected to leave on December 14 or 15 for the tour as per the proposed design which is yet to be finalized by both boards, but we have been asked by the hosts to prepare for the series keeping that date in mind,” said a BCB official involved in the planning, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana Joty has already announced that she will skip the upcoming National Cricket League (NCL) to focus on improving her fitness ahead of the tour of India. Meanwhile, a BCB official confirmed that Nahida Akter and Marufa Akter will also miss the domestic tournament, which is set to start on November 8 at BKSP, as part of workload management.

It is understood that Nahida suffered an injury during the recently concluded match ICC Women’s World Cup 2025while the team management believes that Marufa needs rest to recover from the heavy workload she carried during the tournament. Bangladesh had a challenging campaign at the World Cup, recording just one win in seven matches and finishing seventh out of the eight participating teams. The squad returned home on October 28 and are currently on a short break before regrouping for the tour of India.

Meanwhile, in the same tournament, India Women advanced to the World Cup final after beating Australia Women by five wickets in the semi-final at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai, on October 30. They will face South Africa Women at the same venue on November 2, aiming to win their first World Cup title.
