Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against West Indies, marking the much-awaited return of Litton Badger as captain.

Litton Das returns to Bangladesh after an injury layoff

The stylish wicketkeeper-batsman is back in charge after recovering from a side injury that ruled him out of both the 2025 Asia Cup and the white-ball series against Afghanistan.

The three-match T20I series will be played entirely in Chattogram on October 27, 29 and 31, with Bangladesh looking to continue their good form in the shortest format. Litton’s return not only strengthens the batting line-up but also restores continuity of leadership as interim captain Jaker Ali Anikwho led the party against Afghanistan can now compete freely in the middle order.

Bangladesh’s T20I team is seeing a few strategic changes

While Bangladesh have retained the core of their winning combination from recent victories over Sri Lanka, Pakistan, the Netherlands and Afghanistan, a few strategic adjustments stand out. Mohammad Saifuddin and Soumya Sarkar have both been dropped from the squad despite their recent performances.

In a move that signals Bangladesh’s focus on grooming young talent, Parvez Hossain Emon has been appointed to replace Soumya Sarkar at the top. Emon, known for his explosive strokeplay in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), is expected to provide an aggressive option in the powerplay alongside Tanzid Hasan or Saif Hassan.

The exclusion of Saifuddin, an all-rounder in pace bowling, signals the selectors’ confidence in the current balance of the attack, which already features Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Shoriful Islam – a mix of experience and youthful pace.

BCB continues with core batting and bowling units

Despite the minor changes, the team’s structure emphasizes stability and depth. The middle order, anchored by Towhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali and Shamim Hossain, remains intact, giving Bangladesh a strong foundation for both consolidation and acceleration.

The spin department also remains Bangladesh’s main strength, led by Nasum Ahmed, Rishad Hossain and Shak Mahedi Hasan – a trio that has consistently provided breakthroughs in the middle overs. Their presence, alongside pace specialists, provides versatility on Chattogram’s spin-friendly pitches.

Quazi Nurul Hasan Sohan will retain his place as reserve wicket-keeper, while Litton himself will be expected to take charge behind the stumps in most matches.
