Ballon d’Or 2025: Luis Enrique wins Johan Cruyff -Trophy for the best coach

PSG manager Luis Enrique has won the best manager prize in the Ballon d’Or 2025.

The Spanish manager led the French outfit to a competition title, the UEFA Champions League, the Coupe de France and the UEFA Super Cup.

Luis Enrique said after winning the Men’s Coach of the Year Award: “It’s time for me to thank so many people. First of all I want to thank my family. It is also a special prize for them. Then I want to thank everyone from Paris Saint-Germain, everyone makes this club what it is. And of course the players, because they have reached an incredible year.

“I want to thank two very special people. First President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who always takes care of the team, and also Luis Campos, we have always shared a special relationship.”

Luis Enrique deserves the award

The 55-year-old was undoubtedly the best manager in the world in the past year, and He deserves to win the prize. In the meantime, other managers such as Arne Slot were also nominated for the prestigious prize. The Dutch manager had a remarkable debut season in the Premier League and he helped to win Liverpool the title.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick and Napoli manager Antonio Conte were also nominated.

PSG was completely dominant in the French league and in the UEFA Champions League. Apart from winning the two trophies, they were exceptional with their versions, and they played a hugely attractive brand of attacking football, which enchanted fans and neutrals throughout the season.

Can Arne Slot win the prize next year?

Regarding Slot, he had a fantastic debut season with Liverpool, but their bad show in the Champions League probably cost him the prize. Nevertheless, he had a memorable season with the Reds the last time, and he hopes to win big trophies this season. Liverpool has been very active in the summer transfer market and they have put together a formidable team. They have succeeded in breaking their club transfer record twice in one summer.
