Serves as a Varsity Assistant coach within the Athletics and Recreation department. Adopted extra secondary tasks such as assigned by the AVP, athletics and athletic progress or their designated person.

What you are going to do

  • Work together with the head coach on all aspects of management and the direction of the program in combination with the general strategic plan for athletics; Takes the duties of the head coach in their absence.
  • Helps with planning and coaching of practice sessions and games as prescribed by the head coach; Learns skills at advanced level and game strategies.
  • Counsels students about general and sports -related matters. The student makes references to suitable sources and offices for student support if necessary.
  • Helps monitoring academic progress of student athletes; Works together with classes; Serves as a mentor for athletes who help solve academic and non-academic problems; Imagines, during and after exercises, games and events available for coaches and players.
  • Develops and maintains the contact relationship with health services, residential education, student activities and leadership programs and other suitable departments to facilitate program development and management for student athletes.
  • Help the head coach explore opponents to help prepare, plan, implement and evaluate practical sessions as required.
  • Help the head coach, if necessary, with the recruitment of student athletes, including but not limited to contact with high/prep-school coaches to identify potential recruits, to plan recruitment trips with the head coach, attend Off-Campus games to evaluate athletes, and the preparation of recruitment information.
  • Adjacent is additional secondary responsibilities in the department as required by the AVP, athletics and athletic progress.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as required

Which education and skills you need

Bachelor’s degree
At least 1-3 years of previous coaching experience.
Hepatitis B -vaccination and training in compliance with OSHA instructions; Must maintain both in the position during the time.
Must obtain/retain current certification for first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillator (AED) use.
Must have strong communication skills.
Compliance with all rules of NCAA, NewMac and Babson College.
Contributes to a culture of inclusion and connectedness for all employees, student athletes, potential student athletes and stakeholders of the department.
Dedication to working with a varied student body, staff and other voters.
Possibility to propose and propose new methods to perform tasks that support ET & A; take well -considered risks; And accept new and ongoing initiatives, objectives and solutions to achieve sought -after results.
Ability to anticipate and embrace change; Provide willingness to reach, acquire and use new skills and challenging tasks; And is flexible in changing circumstances.
Must have strong computer skills, including skill in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)

How and where you are going to work

  • Regular physical exertion, walk and exposure to the weather are required; Light lifts required (50 pounds and below).
  • Possibility to work for days, evenings and weekends, and to travel and spend the night personally (for one or more nights) for all regular and late season competitions, recruitment, conferences and tournaments as identified and directed by the head coach.

Must have had a valid unlimited driver’s license in the US and have maintained an insurable for a year (as determined by the criteria of the college) or a satisfactory driving record; Must successfully complete and pass the vehicle training program of the college within the first 60 days of employment; Annual or more frequent assessment of the driving record of employees on the basis of the criteria of the university insurer; And safety training as required by management.

Extra skills you might have

  • Previous College Play and Coaching experience is preferred.
  • Experience with software/online programs related to game film (ie, synergy, Hudl, etc.) and schedule management (e.g. Arms) are preferred.
