Axis Bank said on Wednesday it has been named the preferred financing partner for Tesla in India, making it the first lender to offer loans of up to 10 years for premium electric vehicles in the country.

Announced in Mumbai on March 4, 2026, the partnership will be rolled out nationwide across major metros and emerging EV markets. Under the agreement, Axis Bank will handle end-to-end digital loan processing for Tesla buyers, from booking to vehicle delivery, without the need for any paperwork.

The financing suite introduces two standout features to the segment. First, the extended ten-year term is intended to lower monthly installments and reduce upfront costs for buyers of Tesla vehicles, which are positioned in the premium category. Secondly, the bank will offer cash flow-based repayment plans tailored to individual customer profiles, rather than standard EMI structures.

Munish Sharda, executive director at Axis Bank, said the bank aims to reduce barriers to electric vehicle adoption without compromising on customer convenience.

Tesla entered the Indian market after years of anticipation, and access to financing has been cited as a factor influencing purchasing decisions for premium EVs in a price-sensitive market. Axis Bank, which operates 5,976 domestic branches and more than 13,177 ATMs as of September 2025, is positioning this partnership as part of a broader push towards financing sustainable mobility.

The bank did not disclose interest rate structures or specific criteria for obtaining loans in Wednesday’s announcement. Tesla also did not comment separately on the collaboration.

The partnership adds to a growing list of bank-OEM tie-ups in the Indian EV sector, where lenders are vying to gain early positions as the segment expands from two-wheelers to premium passenger cars.
