Autumn holidays 2025 – Travel Friday

3 minutes, 48 seconds Read

It’s Friday and we are in the final phase of the 2025 autumn holidays. I have just come home from a padel event, the fire is crackling in the stove and the youngest child has dressed up as a ghost and is looking for sweets in the neighborhood. Here comes this week’s Friday Five, this time with a fall holiday theme. Stay safe and happy Halloween!

Autumn holidays 2025

#1. Kalasbonzana

Autumn holidays in this family are closely associated with kalasbonzana. Now the last party of this year has begun…

…and the birthday roses are starting to lose their petals at the same rate as the leaves outside the kitchen window.

birthday party Nelly

Nelly’s friend’s party became a success story with the big sister and her friend organizing a cake competition for the guests. It’s a good idea to let guests prepare the dessert themselves. Bring any cake base and a whole pile of decorations and you’ll have both coffee and activity covered. The award categories consisted of “best” and “best” cake, and it was fitting that both teams won their respective prizes. By the way, I was happy when I saw that they now started selling small pie crusts in the store! Perfect for cake parties if nothing else.

#2. Tour Karlskrona

This semester I have been looking for a suitable place for an autumn visit in Blekinge. Sunday turned out…

…when I got the chance to hang out with my older sister in the car to Karlskrona. We drove through a beautiful autumnal Sweden and landed a few hours later on my absolute favorite island in the entire world. I was able to shake off my bad conscience by emptying the caravan for autumn and winter storms and also managed to do some nice long walks on the island.

It was nice to walk past mother’s grave at Sturkö Church! I also want to rest there when it’s my turn.

Anything else I was able to do? Admire my big brother Peter’s newly built house including the tiled stove (he’s a genius!) and drop by favorite neighbor Violet for a “small” cup of coffee and a glass of her world famous juice. Or small and small for that matter, you can see for yourself what my plate looked like.

#3. The achievement of successfully gathering a family

Back home in the Stockholm region, after some effort and effort we managed to scrape together a few hours of family time. It is NOT easy to get two adults and three fairly large children together, but it worked out in the end. Unfortunately we had really bad weather with torrential rain for about the whole day, so plans to go to one of Stockholm’s outdoor areas had to be cancelled…

…for the purpose of hanging out in our old living quarters in Sickla. I was worried that it would be autumn at Centurion, so I pre-booked an hour of duckpin bowling (you don’t have to try it, normal bowling is about 100 times more fun) and topped it all off with a floorball style family fight. After sushi at our favorite place we could go home and continue our respective activities, each in our own way.

#4. Autumn holidays paddle and Halloween

This week there was also a lot about padel. If everyone else is free, we will have all the more work to entertain inactive children and young people.

It was both fun and successful! This is the first year since the kids were little that we couldn’t get away with the Halloween box with skulls, spiders and skeletons here at home. The kids are just a bit too… old!?

birthday party halloween

Nelly’s pink/gold birthday pumpkin was just the right decoration in our kitchen. I’m looking forward to lighting some candles at the cemetery tomorrow on All Saints’ Day, I love that tradition.

#5. Summer time versus winter time

The fifth and final point is perhaps a bit of a lament. Autumn fatigue has been a slap in the face and the switch from summer to winter time has hardly helped.

Hotel Ruth Stockholm

I am completely exhausted in the evening and prefer to go to bed at 9 p.m. if possible. Now November is just around the corner and I’m unlikely to get better in the next few weeks. I should embrace both autumn and darkness, but that is not my best branch of life. Is it yours?
