Kerala’s authorities to climb an oil rack on Monday after a container ship sank, fuel leaked into the Arab Sea and left 100 freight containers in the water.

The Liberia-Flagged MSC Elsa3 ship traveled from Vizhinjam on the southern tip of India to Kochi when Saturday it was about 38 nautical miles from Kerala capsized, said civil servants, adding that all 24 crew members were saved.

The entire ship has since been ‘immersed’, said the chief of Chief of Kerala’s chief in a statement on Sunday without working out the cause of the incident.

“The coast guard takes steps to block the oil with two ships. A dornier aircraft is also used to spray oil-destroying powder on the oil flick,” said the explanation.

The ship wore 640 containers, including 13 with “dangerous charge” and 12 with calcium carbide, said the Indian coast guard, without making the containers known in the sea known.

MSC Shipmanagement based on Cyprus, which owns the ship, did not immediately respond to a request for comments.

The coast of Kerala has been put on a high report, with local coastal bodies that instructed not to touch or go near the containers – some of which started to wash on beaches – and fishermen did not advise themselves in the sea.

Authorities in the Kollam region of the State have encouraged people to live in the area to move to safer places.

Accidental oil stains in the ocean can have far -reaching effects, which endangers marine ecosystems to the local fishing industry.

The collision of a BW LPG vessel and a local ship with heavy fuel oil caused a similar oil slick in 2017 near the southern city of Chennai, which damaged the water life and influenced the livelihood of thousands of fishermen.
